So far I have come,
To a land so unknown;
In these faces all new,
I’m searching for a home.

It’s all so unfamiliar,
The air, the light & even the sky feels new;
All that once belonged to me,
Slipped out of my hands just like the dew.

I touch these walls & smell every corner,
In a hope to find myself a space that feels familiar.
My heart sinks every time,
When an old memory sprouts;
I feel clutched to it tight & find no way out.

With this little sting of memories,
I continue to move towards the light;
Sweet or sour, maybe its memories,
& only memories that remain for forever in life!
