Funny isn’t it, with the start of every year we are ready with our to-do list for an entire year, we look forward to the self-transformation, a better life and everything nice. Basically, we plan every damn thing in our mind the way we want things to happen. Most of the time we keep procrastinating the things we want to do, which eventually end up getting on the “To Do” list of another year, and life goes on!
Life goes onβ¦. yes, it does. Whether we do things correctly or not, whether we take responsibility for our actions or not, whether we be sad or happy about certain things this life goes on!
I had big plans for myself this year, everything was planned from A to Z, I was motivated enough to take on the road I always wanted and the moment I kept my first foot forward taking a big step, a teeny-weeny thing, A virus, changed the whole game for me, well not just for me but for the whole world.
And at this moment I realized how small we are, how fragile this life is and how little time we have to accomplish everything that we want.
Every day, when I go to the hospital for work or come back home, I hear the rising statistics of people getting infected, dying because of the current pandemic. How the lives of daily wage workers have been severely affected. How some people with food and comfort at home are complaining and how some people with real struggles on a daily basis are passing these days with hope. How while we sit and crib about the current situation of the world, soldiers at the border are martyred protecting us from the situations we aren’t even aware of.
Do we ever care to think that? Half of our life has been taken care of, without us being aware of it by so many people be it soldiers, doctors and if you have faith, then almighty as well. It’s only the half of it that needs to be taken care of.
And you take care of it by embracing life and BE GRATEFUL For it!
Yes! Be grateful for every little thing that you have in life, for the roof on your head no matter how big or small, for clothes to cover your body and food to feed yourself two times a day, because even after looking around, seeing the reality of life, seeing how more than half of the world population is deprived of basic needs, if we cannot feel grateful for what we have then nothing in this life can make us happy and there us no other way you can take care of yourself.
As I sit and look around, I see literally nobody around these days, there is this eerie silence everywhere, which pushes me to think what is the point of planning an entire year before it even starts, when you aren’t even certain if you would be able to breathe the very next moment? What’s the point of keeping grudges or pain of past on your chest, do we really have enough time to be happy that we can take out time to stress ourselves so much?
I’m not trying to be preachy here, nor am I against the idea of living a planned life or having a desire to achieve anything. It’s just that this year has been a little harder for all of us all and I have learned some things from my experience of this year and they are:
- You make plans, you try to stick to them but when they don’t work out for any reason, then don’t feel crippled.
- There is no perfect time to express your love, ask for forgiveness or forgive people, the only right time is “now” for we are too small, smaller than a virus to take charge of everything in life.
- Good health is a blessing, try everything to keep yourself and your loved ones healthy.
- Be humble and respect your life, always remember that this life you are living in the blessing of those who have been putting their lives at risk just to keep you safe.
- This world that we are living in, is magic in itself, so just come out of your miseries, accept the past, and be mesmerized with the magical experience of little things of the present.
- Have enough love and compassion in your heart that whosoever’s life you touch can feel its presence.
We are alive and that is the biggest of all the blessings. Be hopeful, be grateful and be contented.
It’s okay if your life is not going your way, it’s okay if it has never gone your way, maybe that is what is best for you.
Most of the time we aren’t able to look at the bigger picture in life, most of the time we often forget that death is the only reality of life and we are here to be memories only.
And the question here is, in all of this, in this mad race of unawareness what are we on the verge of becoming?
A good memory, a bad one, or no memory at all?
Let’s worry less and live a little more,
Let’s hope and dream a little more;
So when its the time to say the final goodbye,
With joy and contentment we can close the door!
